Amerplast launches new AmerGreen brand

Amerplast, a Souter Investments portfolio company, continues with its strategy to be a forerunner in sustainable packaging with the launch of a new sustainable packaging brand, AmerGreen.

Borge Kvamme (CEO) commented:

“Amerplast is fully committed to sustainability and the running of an environmentally sound business. Our goal is to be a leading European packaging company in tune with customer needs and market trends. In achieving this goal, we see sustainability as a necessity, with an impact on the whole value chain. Today's consumers value sustainable packaging. This means we need to provide our customers with innovative packaging solutions and tools that meet related societal and consumer expectations.

Amerplast is a leading manufacturer of high-quality, value added plastic film packaging. Its flexible packaging applications are used in a wide range of industrial and consumer products, particularly in the food, hygiene and retail sectors.”

Kvamme added: “At Amerplast, we see no reasons to delay the transformation of the flexible packaging industry into an environmentally sound business. We do not buy the notion that customers have to make a choice between Green packaging and profits. We believe that what is good for the environment is good for the business. Each and every one of us has to leave behind a better place to live. This is the Finnish Sustainability model, a pragmatic step-by-step approach to making sustainable and timely progress on all fronts.”

The launch of AmerGreen comes as an addition to Amerplast’s launch of AmerFresh, in cooperation with PerfoTec in Holland, which deliver the best flexible packaging system that extends the shelf life of food products in a natural way, thereby reducing food waste. We progressively convert our PE materials to PE from renewable resources, GreenPE, reducing importantly CO2 emissions. Most recently, Amerplast partnered with Ekokem in Finland, to use recycled plastic materials from the Ekokem Plastic Refinery for the design and manufacture of bags and flexible packaging that is completely integrated in a circular economy.

We believe that what is good for the environment is also good for business. We want to be an industry leader in partnering with customers, to offer consumers innovative sustainable packaging solutions and in developing new ones, putting our related know how and tools into good use. By together implementing sustainability based packaging solutions and advancing a circular economy, we can make important progress in this area, for the benefit of all. Such progress is vital not only for a better environment, but for securing one's long term relevancy in business.”
